The hook is used for stretching the fabric for embroidery stitches. Some feedlocks are so designed that they can also be used for displaying the finished embroidery as a frame. This very useful device consists of two concentric circles. The smaller hoop is used to place the embroidery material, then the larger hoop, which has an adjusting screw to tighten the material between the hoops. The embroidery surface will be stretched providing an overview and making it easier to make different decorative stitches.
